Coffee dates are one of my favorite things. When my husband asked what I wanted to do in Nashville this coming weekend, I said ‘get coffee.’ Exploring coffee shops has become a ‘must’ for us when we travel! I love that undivided time together and the fact that coffee shops are designed for you to linger.
I also love to meet friends for coffee dates. It is an inexpensive way to spend time together + catch up – and we almost always end up running into other friends at our favorite spots in Atlanta.
I have friends that have met their husbands on coffee dates. Whether it is a blind date or a set up, coffee is an low-pressure first meeting. You can make it a quick meeting – or if it is going well, like I said – coffee shops are made for lingering. One issue that my friends always run into is ‘what to wear?’ I love an effortless look for a coffee date and a throw-on dress is perfectly fitting.
Octane Coffee in Grant Park (Atlanta) is one of my favorites! For this coffee date, I chose an olive green dolman sleeve dress, minimalist jewelry and soft + pretty makeup/hair. See the details below:
Hair: I use a one-inch barrel curling iron, curling away from my face. I curl into tight ringlets and let them cool while I finish getting ready. The last thing I do is brush out my curls, so they turn into soft waves.
Raise your hand if you want to wake up with smooth, glowy skin!
This skincare line is just. it.
In Atlanta, the mornings and evenings are cool. The middle of the day is 85 and when the weather doesn’t know what it’s doing…well, neither does my complexion.
I have noticed that my pores have been frustrated lately and my face has felt super dry. I needed a complete rehaul of my regimen and HollyBeth Organics came to my rescue.
I opted for the Rose Geranium Face Kit and I don’t think I will ever look back. The Chamomile Foaming Cleanser alone leaves my skin feeling super clean (like almost squeaky clean) and smooth. It’s not drying, either. (A lot of cleansers have me running for my moisturizer immediately!) A little bit goes a long way and you get the full-size product in this kit.
Given the name of this blog, I clearly have a thing for a toner with rosewater in it. It’s my all-time favorite ingredient! I LOVE HollyBeth’s Rose Geranium Toner. A toner is a multi-purpose tool, that everyone should have in their beauty arsenal. The Rose Geranium Toner works great as a prep for your skin before your moisturizer/serum. I just spray it directly on my face after cleansing! It is also hydrating and can be sprayed as a pick-me-up throughout the day. My favorite beauty trick is to use the toner to apply foundation. I spray a little on my brush or sponge and directly apply my BB Cream. It makes a difference in the appearance of your foundation, I promise!
To balance out my dryness, I added the HollyBeth Organics Rose Geranium Moisturizer and Eye Cream at night. They are just magic. I wake up in the morning with supple, smooth, glowy skin and that, my friends, makes for a great start to the day! I am also going to try-out using them as a highlighter or mixing with my BB Cream. These products are so glowy, that I think they could make for a really natural highlighter!
I feel like I have a totally new face from a week ago, before I started using these products! My skin is doing so much better and can cope with the indecisive weather we are having in Atlanta. My makeup looks so much better on, too!
I just discovered that HollyBeth’s studio is a short walk from my house in Atlanta, so I will be stopping in soon! Does it get any better than an amazing, organic skincare line…in your neighborhood?!
I posted a few weeks ago about a ‘free gift’ deal that 100% Pure was offering. I was able to stock-up on some much needed essentials and have been testing them out all week so that I could share my thoughts with you all. The best news – if you still want to try any 100% Pure products and missed the last promo, they are offering 20% OFF online with the code: COLUMBUS2016. You have until October 10th to shop this deal!
The catalyst for making the order was the 100% Pure BB Cream in 20 Aglow. This is my everyday foundation. It is a primer, foundation and sunscreen all in one. It really is super glowy. I mentioned before that I prefer a full-medium coverage foundation because I use coconut oil and rosewater on my skin. The foundation does not go on quite as heavy over those products and it gives me the perfect finish. I really recommend this product – the only downfall is that it only comes in 3 shades. If you are able to wear one of the shades, this is an amazing foundation.
I ordered the 100% Pure Long Last Concealer in Peach Bisque and I am very happy with it! The shade was perfect for my skin tone and I love the formulation. It is made with super fruits and it is a medium coverage concealer. It was a touch on the lighter side, which is perfect for my under eye. (Tip: I always bring my under eye concealer all the way down to the tops of my cheekbones for a natural contour. You want lighter shades to go where the light would naturally hit your face, if you shined a flashlight downward from the top of your head.) This concealer is my new every day concealer!
The Pretty Naked II Palette. Who doesn’t love a palette?! I chose this palette because I always opt for brown eye colors. This palette comes with 3 – Beam (champagne color), Splendor (chocolate) and Vivid (deep brown plum with a hint of shimmer). The colors are really nice – Beam is great for all over and it has a hint of shimmer but it’s more just to make you glow. Splendor is a nice, natural contouring and under eye liner. Vivid will definitely be my least-used because I will use it more for night time events. It’s still really nice and I am glad to add it to my collection. For me, the blush and luminizer are the real winners of this palette. The blush in Afterglow is a great tawny-peachy, natural color that has great color payoff. A couple little swipes and you are good-to-go and it lasts throughout the day (praise hands!). The luminizer is just my absolute favorite of the lot. It is not too shiny, not too shimmery, natural gorgeousness. I swipe once on my cheekbones, bridge of my nose, under my eyebrows and the inner corners of my eyes. It is the perfect finishing step! I really think this palette is a MUST for any clean beauty gal’s collection.
The 100% Pure Creamy Long Last Liner is exactly what it says in it’s name. It goes on super smooth + dark, and stays for hours. The pencil is super skinny, so you can really work with it to get the look you want! Mine is in the shade ‘blackest.’
The 100% natural, 100% vegetarian Fruit Pigmented Mascara in Black Tea has my favorite style mascara brush! It is one of those plump, really bristley ones that makes me feel like it is going to coat each lash and fluff them up! I love the user experience with this mascara! The formula is great too – a naturally glossy black shade that just makes you feel pretty when you put it on!
The Lip Caramel in Truffle is SO GOOD. It has intense color payoff and the perfect fall mauve color. You can put it on with full intensity to get an on-trend tawny mauve. Or for everyday, I like to use it like a stain. I put it on and let it sit a minute while I do something else, then I dab a little off and let the intense color + moisture linger. 100% Pure products are dyed with fruit and this product is super moisturizing because of the pomegranate oil + cocoa butter.
I teamed up with Beautycounter consultant (@betterbeautywithjenmcculler) for my first Beautycounter experience. I did not know a lot about the products before trying them, but I had heard a lot about the company! Beautycounter has done amazing things for clean beauty. They take a stand against toxic ingredients in beauty products and they are also actively working to change the standards of what ingredients are put into our products. Now, that is a company that I can truly get behind.
Everything that I have tried from the Beautycounter, I have loved. In particular, I really loved using the Beautycounter Color Contour Matte Bronzer in Shade #1 and the Mattify Skin Finishing Powder. They are safe (see The Never List of harmful ingredients that Beautycounter will never use) and they really perform! I am so glad that the Bronzer is Matte because for me, there is nothing worse than a bronzer with sparkles in it. I simply refuse it. This Bronzer has a great color payoff and the Shade #1 is a natural brown color. I think I want #2 as well – it has some orangy tones that are nice for accents to look like you’ve been in the sun!
The Mattify Skin Finishing Powder is excellent for setting! A little goes a long way and it gives your makeup staying power throughout the day. It’s great for little shiny spots throughout the day, too! (Hello, forehead.)
I also have a sample of the Cleansing Balm that I have been scraping the bottom of! I need to get this stuff! It is perfect for Fall because it is super moisturizing. It is dual purpose, so at night – you can use it to remove your makeup and then also sleep in it for an overnight mask. I am obsessed. I have seen such a difference in my skin and I have never used anything quite like it!
